Squirter ® DTIs for Pipe Flange Bolting
B7 studs in pipe flange bolting situations demand careful tightening technique, usually sequentially staged tightening in a star pattern around the flange, usually done using torque values. Now it is possible to use Squirter DTI's, custom engineered to squirt reliably at 60% of the stud's yield strength. Brought up to final "squirt" in stages, and when finished with all the squirted silicone volume and appearance the same around the flange, the pipe installers will know the tensions in all the studs are the same, regardless of torque resistance, coatings, etc.
Caution: Pipe flanges must have bolt holes that are no larger than 1/16" over the nominal diameter of the stud for squirters to work correctly. If not, then we will supply a correctly made bedding flat washer for use under the squirter. On top of the squirter bumps, of course, between the nut and the squirter bumps, must be a correctly hardened flat washer. If that is not available at site, we will supply that also.
